Many people pray and receive the answer to their prayers, but ignore them—or deny them, because the answers didn’t come in the expected form. ~ Sophy Burnham
Answers that don’t come in the expected form are something I warn people about all the time when I am teaching them how to incubate dreams.
Incubating a dream is a great way to get insight, information and inspiration around a particular topic or concern.
You write your question on a piece of paper, put it under your pillow, and then think about your question as you fall asleep. You should also have your dream journal or paper and pen handy to record your dream when you wake from it.
“Don’t edit,” I tell people when I offer this technique to them.
“And even if the dream doesn’t feel like the answer to your question, live with it a while and see if something speaks to you,” I encourage them.
But our expectations and our ideas of the way things should be can get in the way…can make us miss out on the messages from our dream guides and our Muse.
What about you? Are your expectations of the way things should be getting your way?
