The year is almost over; only a little over three months before we celebrate a New Year with new goals.
What about this year’s goals? Was one of your goals to write that non-fiction book you’ve had rattling around in your brain forever?
Did you get it written? Did you even start it?
Did you know that, if you want a traditional publisher to publish your non-fiction book, you don’t write the book first? You write the book proposal.
Did you also know that even if you are going to self-publish, a book proposal will make writing, researching, developing and marketing your book easier?
So, are you ready to bring your book into the world? Are you ready to write that book proposal?
The 3 most important questions you need to be able to answer for yourself if you self-publish, and for agents and editors if you are going the traditional publishing route are:
- Why this book?
- Why now?
- Why you?
Once you have the answers to those questions clearly in mind, you are ready to work on your book proposal. A good, complete book proposal will:
- Clarify your unique message/book idea
- Define your reader
- Identify your competition and what makes your book different
- Identify potential markets
- Create a chapter outline that will give you the book map you need to keep moving forward
- Include the rough draft of three chapters
So that your book sells not shelves…
Whatever your reasons have been up until now for NOT writing your book—kids, job, business, American Idol— how will you feel if another New Year rolls up on you and you haven’t even begun work on your book?
Are you ready to make the commitment to take action on your book NOW?
If so, I’d love to have you be one of the handpicked, creative, spiritual entrepreneurs and coaches who finally stop waiting and start writing in my Muse to Manuscript Master Mind group.
Want more information? Just send me an email with the words “Muse to Manuscript Mastermind” in the subject line.
But act now. The program starts October 24th. Your readers are waiting. And so is your book!
