Theme, 4 of Cups. Cups is the element of Water in the realm of heart, emotions, dreams, intuition, and creativity. Four is a number of structure, stability, rules, and sometimes stagnation. Even as you’ve nicely lined up several completed projects, and have already begun another one, this week, consider that it might be time to try something new in your creative approach. Perhaps it’s time to break from the safe confines of what you’ve done before and try a different approach, or perspective, or theme. Reflect on what in your creative work is tugging at your heart.
Focus, the Hermit. This Major Arcana card suggests that even in the midst of all the holiday prep and chaos, you need to ask for some quiet, alone time. How will you find new inspiration and direction for your creative work if you don’t give yourself time to tune into your Muse? How will you access the courage within to try new things if you don’t get quiet and centered? And how will you light a path for other creatives if you won’t enter silence and solitude?

Back to Cups and the realm of emotions and more, but this time it is the Knight who appears and shows you it is time for action, for following the creative vision or dream that you knew was there but having given yourself that silence and solitude the Hermit models, you are now clearer about your creative direction. You have the tools and equipment and training you need. Maybe it’s time to charge forth.
Gift, King of Swords. Swords is the element of Air in the realm of mind, thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and communication. The King is the master of the suit, confident, experienced, knowledgeable, capable. How interesting that he shows up as the gift after the Knight of Cups. As if to say that if you get out there with your work, especially new work, that your reward is experience and mastery that gives you a new confidence in your abilities and work.
